Job Summary

The Assistant Project Manager is an integral player in our Project Management teams, supporting multiple projects by providing technical and administrative support. This entails the development, execution, and assessment of programs and projects, while collaborating with team members to establish project objectives, track progress, formulate work plans, and produce project-related documents like procedures, proposals, progress reports, and presentations.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - Commensurate, depending on relevant experience, education, and qualifications. We also offer semi-annual profit-sharing bonuses based on company profits to share in the mutual success! In the past, these have ranged between 3.5% - 11.5% of annual salary.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a construction or business-adjacent major
    • In lieu of a degree, an equivalent amount of relevant experience required in addition to experience requirements below
  • Experience in project support in roles that rely heavily on comprehensive and accurate details to properly execute projects, preferably in the utility industry
    • Experience in multi-discipline EPC projects in other industries is also great!
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict management skills with a passion for engaging, connecting, and supporting teams
  • Knowledge of utility engineering practices, project scheduling, economic analysis, construction methods, contract administration, equipment specifications, property rights, and permitting are all a huge plus
  • Master of time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage to deadlines and budgets
  • Analysis and Presentation skills related to project progress, budgets, schedules, etc.
  • Experience working with project management software a plus
  • OSHA certifications a plus

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Project and Program Managers in a support role, ensuring project deliverables are being met and completed on-time.
  • Collaborate with internal departmental and engineering teams.
  • Collect data to communicate project status via weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly reporting. This requires engaging with engineers, project controls, and procurement to solicit input.
  • Plan project meetings including relevant departmental disciplines while taking and distributing critical notes for project teams.
  • Manage project deliverables such as Action Item List, Agenda, Communication Plan, Contact List, and Risk Register.
  • Analyze contracts to understand a project’s scope of work for project planning including deliverables, milestones, equipment, and permits.
  • Assist Project Managers in the development of creating and processing change orders for the project.
  • Obtain documentation from subcontractors prior to mobilization of the project to maintain the subcontractor proposal including deliverable such as insurance and bonds documents, subcontractor information, change orders, and lien waivers.

  • Coordinate with Construction and Project Managers and Procurement to ensure everything is in order, including PPE, prior to construction.

  • Occasionally travel to site with proper PPE.

  • Work with field personnel to verify a hard copy of drawings and revisions.

  • Schedule subcontractor weekly meetings once construction begins, maintaining subcontractors work plans, 3-week lookahead, and a revised schedule to provide updates for Project Managers.

  • Gather project-specific documented deliverables required by the client for project closeout.

  • Assist Project Managers with Substantial and Final Completion Letters.
